League Cups Winning Decks – ZoroRoc & Toad Garb

Hello reader, Phinn here with Michael Perez and we are discussing my Zoroark Lycanroc list that both Michael and I won league cups with, followed by detail about Toad Garb. Other than our wins with ZoroRoc, Michael and I both topped an Expanded cup with Toad Garb as well; I was able to win it. If you are not a Stage 2 Subscriber you can see the Toad Garb list I used here. Michael gives tournament reports for the most part in this piece while I focus more on my observations of the decks and analysis of the lists. This piece focusses more on ZoroRoc than Toad Garb because Michael and I have tested ZoroRoc a ridiculous amount; plus I already covered the Toad Garb deck in some detail in my last piece and in the video I did for PPG.

Michael:

Howdy, Cutortap readers! This past weekend Andy Hyun, Phinn and I went down to Salinas and Fresno. Saturday was standard and Sunday was expanded. In the previous days, Phinn and I tested more or less 14 games of standard, which included matchups between the following decks: Buzzwole GX/Lycanroc GX, Gardevoir GX/Order Pad, Espeon GX/Garbodor, and Zoroark GX/Lycanroc GX. It’s worth mentioning that the best testing I put into Regionals is often the night before, but I hadn’t tested so extensively for a Cup weekend before. We went to a local coffee shop to do some homework and continued our testing from the night before (Thursday). Getting a few games in before Friday’s big testing session, helped to cement the matchup understanding.

On that Friday I was talking with one of my colleagues, Caleb Gedemer, and after some consideration, I decided the Zoroark GX/Lycanroc GX list needed an Acerola, especially if it was going to contain Resource management Oranguru. Another reason I thought it’d be a good addition is that it would make the Buzzwole GX/Lycanroc GX and Espeon GX/Garbodor match ups more favorable. The problem is always what to take out, but since the third Field Blower wasn’t extraordinary and was mostly a tech for Garbodor anyway, I figured I’d try switching them out and see what it would change in the testing.

As of that switch, this is the list:
