Thought I would try out a different style for some of my pieces this week. Instead of coming out with one big article on one day, I’m going to have multiple shorter posts. I’ve done this a couple times in the past, but they were more just short articles rather than focused posts. This one is about my pretty off the wall Necrozma Malamar build (as you might have guessed). I’ll be posting about Zoro Garb and Zoro Roc later this week and probably will have a new episode of Game play Analysis as well.
I’ve sort of had a change of heart with Malamar. When I was playing the Ultra Necrozma version I felt like the deck just didn’t work the way I needed it to. I would miss a piece of the puzzle, I would not be able to fit the techs I need, the deck was overall just not what I wanted it to be. So I decided to swap back to the pure psychic version and I’m liking it a lot better. There are a few specific techs that make a huge difference in the BuzzRoc and Zoroark matchups and now that I have them, I feel my matchup spread is where I want it to be. I actually don’t see any bad matchups! That’s more than I can say for pretty much anything else in the top tier, other than Zoroark Garbodor (I know people will disagree with that).
This piece has two lists: the first is my more timid list including techs that definitively work, while the second list pushes the idea further, making it something like 10 cards off of what is a conventional list.
