What’s up, Cut or Tap readers! I’m back with another piece; this time hopefully helping you guys prepare for the World Championships or get a head start on the 2026 season! I’ve been enjoying my time off, but recently have started the process of locking in for the biggest event of the year.
For those of you who have been following me throughout this season, you know that I’ve been in love with Dragapult ex. I played Regidrago Vstar a bunch early in the season, and went on what I consider to be a pretty good run with Dragapult Dusknoir to close out the season. Throughout my early Black Bolt/White Flare testing, I’ve tried a lot of new ideas – mainly, what new tools top decks from before gain from the expansion, and to no one’s surprise, I’m currently liking Drapgault ex the most. So that’s what I’ll be covering today – all things Dragapult ex for the 2025 World Championships (and early local events).
Today I will be covering two Dragapult ex variants: Dragapult/Dusknoir, and Straight Dragapult. I will be providing what I believe to be their best lists right now, and going on a deep dive of the variant I’ve been liking the most of the two, covering how it matches up against some of the best decks in the current format. There are other viable ways to utilize Dragapult ex (with Charizard ex, Zoroark ez, etc), but I have found those versions to fall short to the two former. I also feel the most qualified to speak on PultNoir and Straight Pult.
Dragapult ex/Dusknoir
You’ll notice that this is the same list as the one I played to get 11th at NAIC. I really believe this is close to the perfect 60 when it comes to Dragapult Dusknoir. This deck really only plays the essentials; there isn’t much room for more creativity when you need to fit Munkidori and a Dusknoir package.
